Catfishing in SpainCat- and carp fishing in Spain, River Erbo |
| Danish specialist Thomas Søfort spent a week at river Ebro in Spain with a bunch of Danish specimen anglers. This page tells their story. |
![]() Peter landed the first fish on the tour which was also his first catfish. The fish weighed 101 lbs and was 192 cm long. A fine fish for the novice! Stormly shares some good advice in handling such an animal. |
![]() Up you go ..! |
![]() Joakim with an impressive catfish. |
![]() Martin - king of catfish - shows his biggest catfish on the tour. Its hard to believe that such a small fish may grow above 2.5 meters long and weigh more than 220 lbs. |
![]() Peter ends the first day fishing with a super fish at 128 lbs and 218 cm across. A total of 5 fish between 44 and 127 lbs was landed that day. |
![]() Nice fish Peter, congratulations! |
![]() Does Martin rinse the luck off of Peter? No, this is the penalty you pay catching your first catfish above 2 meters, catfish baptism.... |
![]() Thomas with his first catfish on the tour, which also equals his personal record of 92 lbs. Great to feel a catfish at the end of the line after 2 years. |
![]() The catfish was caught using tackle which is very similar to those used for carp fishing. However, the hook is size 4.0 – 1 lbs lead and at then end we have 5-8 pieces 22 mm pellets on the hair. Still nothing for a fish like this. |
![]() 97 lbs and a new personal best. |
![]() Who is carrying who? |
![]() Stormly with one of the beautiful common carps from the river. |
![]() 77 lbs. |
![]() 77 lbs. |
![]() The cat fish is able to move some water. On the light gear you are up for at real fight. Here a catfish is soon ready for photography. |
![]() Danish pike expert Bjarne Horn working hard. 132+ lbs in slimy condition is difficult to handle. |
![]() Impressive Silurus Glanis |
![]() Hey, is this crocodile infested waters? |
![]() On this tour Martin only went for carp catching, understandable since they have been caught up to 62 lbs. This shows his biggest on the tour 27 lbs. |
![]() At last my bite alarm went off and the first contact showed that a big carp had snapped the carp tackle. Air bubbles on the river surface, however, made it clear that a catfish had snatched the delicacy and a wild fight on light gear began. The air bubbles are caused by the catfish vomiting during the fight. Successively landed the carp measured 160 cm and tore the weight down to 73 kg. |
